Abstract
Painting after Painting explores the dynamic and evolving landscape of contemporary painting in Belgium, reflecting on its complex history and diverse practices.
This publication, which coincides with the exhibition of the same name at the S.M.A.K. Museum in Ghent, presents the works of 74 artists, from the late 1990s to the present, including figures such as Kati Heck and Ben Sledsens. The catalogue emphasises the lively dialogue between emerging talents and their predecessors, and shows how contemporary artists deal with identity, history and social contexts.
By questioning artistic boundaries and celebrating the ongoing reinvention of the medium, Painting after Painting affirms the continued relevance of painting in an ever-changing world. (bron: website copyrightbookshop)
