Description
De aquarel 'Defenders for Real Ukraine and Ukraine of my Dream' creëert beelden voor een toekomstig Oekraïne. Chychkan combineert verwijzingen naar de geschiedenis van het land met beelden van het huidige Oekraïne. 'Defenders for Real Ukraine...' portretteert twee moderne helden. De eerste is Anastasia Vinislavska, soldaat en medisch hulpverlener in het Oekraïense leger, en tegelijk een linkse nationaliste en feministe. De tweede persoon is Yevhen Leshan, een jonge officier die deelnam aan de Russisch-Oekraïense oorlog in de Donbas in 2014-2018, en tegelijk aanhanger van progressieve politieke ideeën. Ze zijn afgebeeld onder de vier linten, die Chychkans' denkbeeldige Oekraïne van de toekomst symboliseren.
